LOCK Release New Single “New York vs Paris”

LOCK are firm favourites of ours at Eudaemonia. Their impressive catalogue of releases are both strong and ever relevant. 9th June saw them release latest single “New York vs Paris,” a romantic ode to two favourite cities.

Formed of Edie Langley (vocals; guitar), Gita Langley (vocals; guitar; synths) and Gabi Woo (drums), LOCK have an impressive ability to effortlessly mix guitar and effects to create an otherworldly hybrid of sounds. Think Lana Del Rey in a rock band, or the soundtrack to the most elegant of Wes Anderson films, LOCK clearly have a huge potential and a sound worth dying for.

“New York vs Paris” invokes much of their incredible songwriting ability, mixing themes of romance, destiny and adventure to create a heavenly musical sound. Edie Langley is vocally second to none, reaching long, strong notes which echo around the track and in venues alike. LOCK are rapidly developing into somewhat of a musical enigma, we are sure that they are fated to much larger, greater things!

The London based band are no strangers to success having explored and developed a career through classical music training, though their sound is a million miles from that of their youthful heritage. Sometimes dark, sometimes prosperous and sometimes joyful, LOCK’s sound explores numerous themes which ultimately makes them all the more intriguing.

Their growth this year has been almost exponential, having already supported world famous names in the likes of Ed Harcourt, Sophie Ellis-Bextor and Carl Barat and The Jackals. Last year saw them travel to Paris, somewhat of a spiritual hometown, as support for The Libertines’ at their famous Olympia gig. This summer sees them head to festivals, though we can only hope a UK headline tour is already in the pipeline.

Having recorded with already successful producers and writers such as Dimitri Tikovoi (Charlie XCX) and Olly Burden (The Prodigy), it is clear that they have much industry support. Though their ever growing fan base and social media presence is more resemblant of LOCK’s mass potential and likability, it is clear that “New York vs Paris” is a sign of things to come!
