Rescue Rooms Celebrates 15th Birthday

It is one of Nottingham’s most famous music hotspots and has played home to some of the best bands and musicians in the country and beyond. This week Rescue Rooms turns 15 with a huge week-long celebration planned.

Opened by DHP in February 2003, the venue has gone from strength to strength. 2018 now sees it as far more than just a music venue, it now is a centripetal force in the East Midlands’ nightlife scene. Additionally, music specific ventures such as acoustic rooms and the use of support slot means it truly is a venue which supports new talent.

“This week sees it celebrate its 15th Birthday in style”

The 450 capacity venue has seen the likes of The Killers, Calvin Harris, La Roux, Four Tet, Chase & Status, Bloc Party, Magnetic Man, Simian Mobile Disco, Ellie Goulding, Animal Collective and The Libertines grace its stage. Over 100 gigs a year now take place there with the likes of Shame, Little Comets and Super Furniture all heading there in the coming months.

Acting somewhat as a testing ground before bands then head on the the much larger stage of Rock City, Rescue Rooms is engrained in a rich culture of supporting the local music community. The likes of Sleaford Mods and Jake Bugg have all played there, and recent times have seen a new breed of local musicians such as Crosa Rosa, Autumn Diet Plans and Brown Lion Zoo all head the venue to perform in some shape or other.
