Edinburgh Summer Sessions: Preview

With Scotland’s music festival infrastructure going from strength to strength this year, it is no wonder that Edinburgh now plays host to a credible series of summer festivals. The Summer Sessions kicks off in just two weeks. It sees some of the biggest names in music descend on the capital, with tickets still on sale!

Headed up by DF Concerts, it sees six headline shows kick off along Princes Street Gardens during Edinburgh’s world famous Fringe Festival. It sees the likes of Brian Wilson, Bastille, Kasabian, Sir Tom Jones and many more will take to the stage.

The summer is the perfect time for the Californian surf sounds of Brian Wilson, the driving force behind the Beach Boys. He shall perform 1966’s Pet Sounds in full, as he has been throughout the world these past few years. As the inspiration behind The Beatles and more, expect hits such as ‘Wouldn’t It Be Nice’, ‘Sloop John B’ and ‘God Only Knows.’

Princes Street Gardens will see Bastille, The Vaccines plus Rag‘N’Bone Man all headlining this year’s Edinburgh Summer Sessions, all showing huge growth since their first Scottish outings. Paloma Faith too also continues a huge string of festival shows this summer. Edinburgh’s Summer Sessions clearly feature a whole range of musical genres, something for the entire family to get behind!

Kasabian return to Edinburgh for the first time in four years. Having headlined the likes of T in the Park, TRNSMT and Glastonbury, Princes Street Gardens is somewhat of an intimate setting for the Leicester formed band. Despite a lack of recent visits, they are no strangers to Edinburgh having supported Oasis on their final stadium tour at Murrayfield. Stadium, Arena or City Centre Park, the indie rock sensations always seem to deliver!
