Loaded: Manchester’s new indie club-night

To some, Manchester is the centripetal point in the world for live music. Its list of venues, bands and cultural hotspots are endless. Loaded, by Oddity Events, launches on October 1st with a desire to bring new music, good vibes and more to the city’s famous Night People venue.

The night features live music from The Slumdogs, Cavana and The Scrubs alongside a free entry club-night, bound to bring a tonne of great indie/alt music. Entry is just £6, that’s £2 per band. Loaded is the best place to discover the best new bands the country has to offer. With the club-night becoming a regular scheduled event over the winter months, the Loaded launch will clearly become an ‘I was there’ moment.

Blackpool formed band The Slumdogs top the debut Loaded bill. Recently signed to Gary Powell’s (The Libertines) 25 Hour Convenience Store, they are clearly shrouded in a tonne of excitement and potential. ‘Cut The Conversation Short,’ their latest release, is the perfect example of this.

“To many, Manchester is the centripetal point in the world for live music.”

Local involvement on the night comes from Cavana. Indie sounds mix with classic inspiration to create a sound no less than impressive. ‘Giraffe’ is a good starting point, a mix of strong voice and nostalgic guitar riffs. This band are tipped to go far and rightly so!

London based band The Scrubs are both raw and impressive. You should check out ‘Wormwood,’ a fascinating mix of atmospheric sounds bound to leave an impression whether it be live or it studio form. For fans of The Wytches and Fat White Family, ‘Wormwood’ is the definitive starting point for any new Scrubs fan. They are a ferocious force, once of the best new live acts around.
