Sylvette release powerful new single ‘Memories’

Music and art go hand in hand, it is a wonder than musicians don’t channel their inner artist more often. Sylvette do it in the most impressive manner. Their latest single ‘Memories’ is Art-Rock at its best.

The 5 piece are baed in Manchester and take influence from a whole manner of musicians including Radiohead, Neutral Milk Hotel and Jeff Buckley. “Memories” is both powerful and imaginative, unconventional and at times menacing. Their sound has so many dimensions whether it be in lyric or instrument.

Formed in Manchester, the band take influence from a surrealist Picasso painting. Forming a friendship with its subject, Sylvette, it is this relationship between sound and image which makes this band so special.

What is most interesting is the band’s background, whether it be musical or geographical. Lead singer Charlie Sinclair comes from a theatrical background, it is no wonder Sylvette’s sound is so dynamic. Violinist Philippos Rousiamanis grew up in Greece whereas Dan Macfarlane comes from Jersey. Ashley Garrod is a Somerset music obsessive, a county which is famed for its sound and mythical origin.

“‘Memories’ is Art-Rock at its best”

The band is perhaps best supported by New Order guitarist Phil Cunningham. He, alongside Jake Evans of Bad Lieutenant, has produced the bands previous four singles including ‘Memories.’ Speaking on the band, he says “When I listen to Sylvette I get from it: An intense and dramatic soundscape with some rocking guitar work. Passionate and powerful vocals. It’s my kind of music!”

‘Memories’ is both raw and powerful. Heavy imagery mixes with sound to create something imaginative and intriguing. We are obsessed!
