The world is ridden with silence. A necessary silence. The odd vehicle comes and goes, but even the busiest of social climates rings with nothingness. Staying at home is important, it saves lives.
I despise silence. For this reason, I am currently finding salvation in music. Use this time to reconnect with one of the world’s foremost tools of togetherness. Here are our latest #CLICKONTHIS track-list additions.
Do Nothing – LeBron James
Do Nothing’s Zero Dollar Bill EP is coming mid-pandemic, and it’s title is fitting considering the economic sanctions Covid-19 is bringing. The boisterous ‘LeBron James’ will lead its release. A punching, lyrically absorbent post-punk lick.
Do Nothing are Nottingham’s latest musical trailblazers. The city is rich in musical dynamism. Their clashing guitar sound and inquisitive, spitting lyricism puts them at the top of the new music pedestal.
OLIVIA ANNA LiVKi – Spectacular
Olivia Anna Livki (aka LiVKI) is a DIY-force of nature. ‘Spectacular’ is a whirlwind of post-punk art-pop. An ironic take on the nihilistic elements of modern influencer culture. Her empowered, hands on approach is refreshing. At times, it feels like Talking Heads meets Kate Bush outside Dalston Superstore on a wild Summer Saturday.
In the age of instagram, it is time for postmdern inquisition. In ‘Spectacular,’ LivKi does just this in marvellous fashion.
Urban Theory – Living the Dream But Discussing the Nightmare
There is something boisterous and nostalgic about ‘Living the Dream But Discussing the Nightmare.’ It is heavy in guitar licks and hard hitting lyricism to match. The Manchester band take solace from a string of music influences combined with real life experience.
Indie, when done right, is just as powerful now as ever. Urban Theory prove this!
