In the age of pandemic there are slight glimmers of hope, not least via Idles’ latest release, ‘Mr Motivator.’
Offering our first taste LP3, ‘Mr Motivator’ encapsulates the Bristol formed band’s relentless guise of post-punk positivity. With frantic riff, epic drum-beat and ferocious lyricism, the track seemingly picks up where Joy as an Act of Resistance left of.
Speaking on the release, frontman Joe Talbot states: “We want to start this journey with a means to not only encapsulate the album’s sentiment, but to encourage our audience to dance like no one is watching and plough through these dark times with a two tonne machete of a song and the most beautiful community of scumbags ever assembled. Let’s go. All is love.”
If one is yet to venture out of the bedroom this lockdown season, we’re sure that Idles’ latest offering offers the listener a metaphorical catapult. Its destination? An unknown gathering in deep space, one where hatred, austerity and global pandemic find itself unwelcome.
This is fierce, like ‘Connor McGregor with a Samurai sword,’ obvs.
