Enticing and eclectic is an obvious two word summary of The Jaded Hearts Club. The supergroup bring a rock and roll twist to The Four Tops’ Motown favourite ‘Reach Out and I’ll Be There.’
Formed somewhat spontaneously, the collective informally set out in 2017 as guitarist Jamie Davis searched for a Beatles cover band for his birthday party. The outfit consist of Nic Cester (Jet), Graham Coxon (Blur), and Matt Bellamy (Muse) Miles Kane (The Last Shadow Puppets), Sean Payne (The Zutons), and Davis himself.
The Jaded version of ‘Reach Out and I’ll Be There’ opens with a twang somewhat suited to a spaghetti western. The stereotypically interplanetary guitar and crashing vocals of Cester and co truly makes this cover chaotic, in a beautiful sense.
The track is entirely emblematic of the pandemic. It offers togetherness at a time when one may feel desperately isolated. It features on You’ve Always Been Here, their debut album consisting of eleven lost favourites.
