There is something seismic about Goat Girl’s return single, ‘Sad Cowboy.’ It tracks ones grip on reality and how easy it is to lose, especially in the mire of modernity.
Produced by Dan Carey, the track takes a different approach to their self titled debut. Whilst fuzzy guitars and exceptional lyricism remain, there is an obvious step towards surrealist electronica. Combined with spitting honesty through lyrical storytelling, the track is a clear onslaught on social direction and the perils of modern life.
Inspired both by lockdown and the global issues of our time, the track centres around mindful wellbeing. Goat Girl’s Lottie Cream says: “When you’re within a world that constantly makes you feel as though you’re living out a really bad dream, disillusionment is inevitable.”
‘Sad Cowboy’ comes from On All Fours. The upcoming second album drops in January 2021 via Rough Trade.
