Keep up to date with LAURAN HIBBERD
There is something quite hypnotic about Lauran Hibberd’s ‘Boy Bye.’ The Isle of Wight newbie is garnering a strong reputation for her sharp-hitting, lyrically intrinsic style.
With inspiration ranging from Pixies to Weezer, her latest release is perhaps the best yet. Giving detail into the downtrodden effects of a relationship growing ever unhealthy, ‘Boy Bye’ boasts exemplary guitar riff-verse relationship. At times disjointed, it is the musical personification of a relationship limping jarringly towards early ending.
Speaking on the track, Hibberd says: “It has a scarily obsessive nature about it and is based on the need to ‘feed’ someone to keep them around. I sort of battle with myself throughout the whole track, the same way you would in your brain when stuff like this happens and you try and justify it to yourself.”
The IOW rising talent has solidified a growing status amongst the UK indie scene with support from Radio 1’s Annie Mac and Jack Saunders amongst others.
